Luckiest Makeup Blogger in the World!

I'd been expecting a package from Sephora. You know how it feels, to be waiting all day, tracking your package online, watching each and every minute pass by, just so you can finally GO HOME from work and open this gift of which you've given yourself. I got home, opened my lovely package which was Marc Jacob's "Oh Lola" perfume gift set. (side note I smell amazing and I'll tell you why in a moment) Then I go to the mailbox to check the bills, I mean mail... and what's that? A package in the mailbox? A package addressed to ME in the mailbox? OMG I ran inside, if you can imagine, and tore it open thinking that I had purchased something in an ambien coma. But no. It was a package from a reader of my blog, who chooses to remain nameless. I will not say what she sent me, but let me tell you... IT WAS GOOD... really good... quite amazing! Lets just sayyyyyyy 2 Nars Blushes, a Christian Dior lipstick, and a completely world wide sold out brush that practically no one can get their hands on anymore and I have one. I've never been so happy than to receive such an amazing gift. It was done out of complete kindness. I am just a small town girl from Albany, Louisiana. I am blessed to be able share something that I have such a great passion for with family, friends, and strangers who only share one common bond with me, and that's makeup. I know to someone who isn't as obsessed as I am, if you're reading this and are thinking that I'm a crazy hick who's giving an acceptance speech for crap that doesn't matter, You are probably right. BUT this person did not have to send me such a fabulous gift, and for that... I am so grateful for her kindness. I love everyone of you even if I've known you all my life or for the freak in New Zealand who keeps sending me emails asking me to post pictures of my boobs on my blog lol.

Since my last post I've shopped... a lot. I've gotten new Dior highlighter, some new lipsticks, wellllll a lot of new lipsticks, face washes, eyeshadow, foundation, blush, nail polishes. Far too many to write about everything. So I'll just post about my faves.

1- Lancome Doll Lash Mascara. I originally got this because it came in a set with a full size lancome artliner and a sample size mascara primer. I never expected to enjoy this mascara but I really do. Not sure if it gives a doll lash effect but it's hard to achieve with a regular mascara so this has to help. Right? I like it so far.
2- Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in "Exposed"

This blush looks like nothing special and kinda looks like poo with a little pink and red dye. On the skin, it is BEAUTIFUL! Give it a try! I promise you'll love it!
3- Chanel Illusion D'ombre cream eyeshadow.

OMG. OMG. OMG. .... OMG. OMG. THIS PRODUCT IS AMAZEBALLS! I PROMISE! I've only just gotten super into Taupe's and this color is the King to my Taupe eyeshadow collections and I will probably have babies with it. At least we all know the baby will be beautiful either way it comes.

4- Marc Jacobs "Oh Lola" is a super sweet and floral perfume. I got a sample of this in my Sephora package and used it all within 2 days.

5- Prada "Candy" perfume- And now for the MAIIIIIN EVENT... the most carameliest beautiful scent in the world that is only available at Neiman Marcus. OH EM GEE yall. This perfume gets me stopped every day more than once by people asking me what the scent is. I've been stopped by men wanting to get it for their girlfriends (lucky beetches) woman and friends in Sephora and Ulta. It truly smells just like candy and I mix it with the "Oh Lola." You know ms attention whore herself cannot go out without having my, I mean HER own scent;)

Just wanted to say thank you again to the mysterious person who sent me that beautiful gift. I will always be grateful for you! You and I know who you are and we'll leave it at that. Happy Thanksgiving Yall. Tell the ones you love and are thankful for that you love them and are thankful for them everyday. I'm thankful for all of yall! Whether you're the creepy dude in New Zealand, or my mom and sister, or meme, or murr, or if I don't know you, and I know there are a few around the world that check my site constantly, I AM THANKFUL FOR YOU!

Magnetic Nail Polish??? Say Wha???

Let me preface this by saying sorry it's been so long since my last post. With work, a move happening, my dog getting sick, myself getting sick, my mom getting sick, and my dad getting sick, all while I have to work 40+ hours, things have been... Let's just say hectic. Yeah I'll go with that:).

So the reason I've found inspiration for writing a new post is this new nail polish. This magnetic nail polish is changing my life. I swear. You don't even know. I have found love and I will be marrying this amazing polish next week. He's multi-cultural because he comes in Grey and Purple. He's well rounded because he comes in a round bottle. He's also managed to pull me in like a magnet. He's Trafalagar Square:). By the way we are registered at Sephora you can get us anything and we will be happy and MOST appreciative;)

Now that I've gotten my soon to be marriage announcement out, I can move on with the review and how it works. I was allowed to preview this polish last week at Sephora. They called me aside and told me I simply HAD to see what was coming out. This polish wasn't even available when I fell in love with it! You simply swipe the color on and before it dries hold the magnet, which comes on top of the polish, over the polish and it creates this amazing design! I put 2 coats on. The first one without the magnet and the second one with the magnet. I found that the longer you hold the magnet the more the two colors separate. So 2 to three seconds and you get this!

Hold the magnet over it for 4 to 5 seconds and you get this! An Amazing Black and silver canyon of color!

I bought this product from Sephora.com. It's from their new polish range called Nails Inc. Nails Inc is a company that originated in the UK. Therefore all the names of the polishes are named after landmarks in the UK. I think my sister would LOVE this polish with names such as, Kensington, and Wellington Square. Love the polish, love the brand. This polish in particular is a little more expensive at $16 whereas the other polishes from Nails Inc are generally $9.50. I would pay 20 for a nail polish as beautiful as my love;).

Til next time!

Dori

P.s. You are invited to the wedding!

July 2011 Favorites!

Hello Beautiful! My hiatus has hopefully come to an end in the Blogesphere;). My real job (completely unrelated to make up in every way) has taken over my mind body and soul for the past few months. Lots of great things are happening in my life and my family's lives. I'm moving, my sister was here for a long time, I went on vacayyy ((woo woo (for 3 days lol)). So in the midst of little sausages and trying not to get burnt and trying to stay dry in this Louisiana swamp, I have neglected my blog and for that... I am sorry. Trust me when I tell you my favorites this month are right on par with what's "hot and now" in the make up world.

1- Z Palettes. ($20) available at Zpalette.com or allcosmeticswholesale.com
Z-Palettes are truly amazing! They hold so much more as opposed to regular Mac Palettes. The magnet is so strong in these things they are sure to hold your eyeshadow down. There's also a window as you can see so that you can see what is in your palette which is super convenient. Because I am obsessive and apparently have no budget or control in my life, own every color. So in case you were wondering, I use the pink for blushes, zebra for colorful eyeshadow, cheetah for neutrals, and black for stragglers that had no room.

2- Sonia Kashuk Flat Eyeshadow Brush- ($4 or $5) Can be found at Target.
This little fellow of mine came as a shock to me. This inexpensive dude is so easy to use and blends eyeshadow beautifully. It's no comparison to my Mac 224 but you all know that he's my husband for life ;)

3- Buxom Mascara in Amplified ($22) Found at Sephora.com
This Mascara was heavily pimped for a few weeks lol. I love this stuff! The formula is brilliant and the Wand is what every girl needs! It gets bigger and smaller when ya want it to! (Wink Wink) Preferably I enjoy the bigger side but hey... To each her own. I'm talking about Mascara here pervert! All you have to do is twist the end of the wand. The smaller side is lengthening (which you use first) and the Larger more expanded side is for thickening. It truly works and I have been accused of wearing Falsies when it is actually the Buxom Amplified Mascara.

4- Bare Essentuals Pretty Amazing Lipstick in Moxie ($16) at Sephora.com or Ulta.com
We all know I'm obsessed with pink. It's my color I wear it everyday whether it be on clothes, eyeshadow, or of course lipstick. This lipstick, as the name suggests, is Pretty Effing AmaZING! The doe foot applicator is built to perfection and the actual product is SO pigmented and glossy it just glides on the lips with no effort.

5-Buxom Princess Lip gloss - ($18) Found at Sephora.com and some Ulta stores.
This is a super weird product. It's a mauve-y pinky goldy beautiful color. It does something different for your lips when you put it on. It's very hard to explain but it makes any color beautiful! You can put blue on your lips and this gloss will turn you from a dead weird girl to a gorgeous weird girl. Along with all the Buxom Glosses, there is a minty flavor to the gloss that will plump your lips, but this contains no jellyfish poo that numbs the lips and makes them burn as most plumping lip glosses contain the grossness. Love every color from these!
6- Physician's Formula Liquid Eyeliner ($6 or $7) Can be found anywhere but I get mine at Ulta. This is a fantastic dupe for my holy grail liquid eyeliner by Kat Von D in trooper. It's got the same brush head and is surprisingly really very black! It's supposed to have a "Lash Boosting" ingredient in it which hey if it works awesome, but I have yet to see any results of lash growth or "boosting" of any nature. Regardless this is an awesome product!

7- Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Silk eyeshadow in #6 and #4. (too expensive to even admit that I own TWO!) If you want to see how much they are go online;)
Though, I know I have too many eye shadow's to even count, and though I am moving soon, I simply COULD NOT pass up the luxury of having these top quality, can do anything, can make ugly beautiful, can probably carry your first born child, eyeshadow made by Armani. The name says it all when it comes to amazingness and the eyeshadow definitely did not lack in any way! These shadows are simply magnificent! The color is completely true to form on your eyes. Stays on in the exact same way for 24 hours!!!! They are simply the BEST eyeshadow one can have. They look wet and glossy on your eyes and give an unexplainable sheen. They blend beautifully and are so pigmented I could cry! You HAVE to check these out just to see the texture! It's as if they took a gallon of pigment and smushed it into this tiny pot. You can use them wet or dry. Can't say enough about them.
#6 (my favorite!)

#4 My second favorite;)

8- Laura Geller Blush and Brighten Bronzer Powder. ($32) online somewhere lol I'm a lazy foo.

So there is a little thing I like to call... BIRCHBOX. Birchbox.com is a monthly subscription where you pay $10 a month and these magical birchbox people send you magical things! It's supposed to only send you 5 or 6 deluxe samples but every now and then they throw in a surprise and give you a FULL SIZE PRODUCT! 3 months ago in my April Birchbox, I received a full size Stila Eyeshadow which is nice. In May I got this bronzer in my box! it is full sized and amazing! It is a mineral crushed into pigment form and baked for your bronzey goodness. Really though, please sign up for Birchbox! I love it and it's really like you get a surprise gift in the mail monthly! It really pays off when they send you full size products! Back to the bronzer... beautiful for summer. Mine is in Honey Dipped but I want to try more of the colors.

9- Illamasqua Blusher in Hussy ($24) Sephora.com
This blush is just beautiful! You only have to tap your brush into the product once to give you a gorgeous summery flush:) You shut yo mouth and say it aint so Hussy! Sorry.... had to:)

BEAUTY BLENDER!!!!!!! ($19) Sephora.com
OMG I'M GOING TO WRITE IN CAPS BECAUSE THIS IS THAT AMAZING! I NEVER BELIEVED THE HYPE. I ALWAYS THOUGHT OMG 19 DOLLARS FOR A DAMN SPONGE? HELLLLLL NO! NEVER... WELL... I DID IT AND IT IS AMAZING. YOU WET IT, IT SWELLS UP AND YOU BOUNCE THIS OVER YOUR SKIN TO BLEND YOUR FOUNDATION OUT (which btw my fave is still Make Up Forever Face and Body Dedicated B right cher) AND IT IS TRULY FLAWLESS. THIS IS MY HAPPY PURCHASE OF THIS MONTH! SO LETS ALL BE HAVE AND BEAUTIFUL AND BLEND... WITH A SPONGE ON OUR FACE!
In conclusion, I've missed blogging and feel as beautiful as ever;) Beauty is ever evolving and I will evolve right along with it! Stay gorgeous!
C'est Fini.

March Loves and Loathes!

Hello, all my GORGEOUS friends! I'm back for a March 2011 Loves and Loathes of the month.

1. I'm going to start off with the Make Up Forever Camoflage Cream Palette No. 1. It's the lightest of the concealer palettes because as we all know, I am a ghost... Practically. What makes this palette unique is, Believe it or not, I can use EVERY color. Even the darkest. In fact the darkest peachy color is my favorite out of the whole palette. Hear me out. If you look at a color wheel peach counteracts with blue. And beacause an evil spider bit me and made me sick, I have had unbelieveable dark blue circles under my eyes. So the peach CANCELS out the blue tone. It truly is remarkable. Please if you have dark circles under your eyes try a peach tone concealer. TRUST Your beautiful friend! This retails at Sephora for $36.

2. This is a crazy little guy. It's the Garnier Skin renew Anti Dark Circle Roller. It's actually a concealer with all kinds of crazy ingredients to HELP your skin look more glowy and radient. It has caffine in the formula to help lift the eye. It's really a remarkable product and you should try it out! I got mine from Walgreens for about 12 dollars.

3. This next product, I am sorry to say, is Discontinued. It's Mac's Ripe Peach Blush and it is 100% amazing and beautiful and perfect! I could go on and on about this product but really just look at the picture and salivate! No really, Look! It's gradient effect leaves you with more options than ever thought possible. You can use the light side if you need a pick me up on your cheeks without going overboard. As we all know, I am a little flamboyant and will wear it all day as dark and beautiful as I can by mixing the color all together. LOVE LOVE LOVING This blush.

4. Alright STOP..... Shimmertime. Ok ... I'm cheesy, get over it. Loving this color as a highlight. Mac's Shimmertime is not as glittery and crazy as the name would suggest. It is perfect and what I've been using for a year. It is what keeps me from shelling out $56 dollars for the Dior Amber Diamonds Highlight powder.

5. This product is pretty cool. If anyone watches Youtube Beauty videos then you would KNOW Pixiwoo. Besides Marlena (makeupgeek), these sisters rock my beauty world. One of the sisters, Sam, had the chance to create her own brushes which are sold at Ulta. The price is very affordable and the product is completely amazing. Below is the eye set and there is an awesome dupe for Mac's 217 and is worth the $15 dollars for the set JUST for that brush! The face brushes are awesome as well. You should check them out next time you're in Ulta. They are really new and I probably shouldn't have added them to my favorites but I wanted you guys to know... Especially my sister, who was at war with herself at Mac the other day with my cousin. They couldn't decide on the 224 or the 217. I, of course told them to get the 224. Now they can both try a dupe for the 217 for a fraction of the cost and get 4 brushes as an added bonus. Real Techniques Eyeshadow Brushes By Samantha Chapman.

6. Make Up Forever's #92 will always hold a beautiful place in my heart. It is the perfect purple in my opinion and everyone should pick it up. Do it. Now $19 dollars at Sephora. GO! No really. Spring's here and bright colors are just around the corner and this is perfect. LOVE IT!

7. Mac's Painterly Paintpot is amazing! It mutes your eyes and provides a clean and even canvas for you to perform your magical art on. Makes your eyeshadow stay on all day too so it's win win;) BUT I tried it on my lips the other day thinking it would probably dry them out and I had just made the worst mistake of my life. Much to my surprise, it is the PERFECT lip erase. I wanted the color of my lipstick to really show through as the color it was without my natural lip color deterring it in any way. So Painterly was my answer. Surprisingly enough it didn't dry my lips out at all. Try it if you get a chance! $16.50 at Mac. Also, slap on a little pinky gloss over just the painpot and you'll have the perfect nude;)

8. Mac's Kissable Lipcolor in En Chante from the Peacocky collection is a beautiful baby pink! I love this color and it really does stay a very long time! I love my light baby blue toned pink lipsticks. I'm obsessed. Don't Judge meh;)

Favorite Mascara this month is Cliniques High Impact. It's very black and was only 14 dollars. I love the formula. It doesn't flake, and is easy to remove. Paired with Buxom Mascara you will have a gorgeous False eyelash look.

9. Favorite nail polish is Shocking pink, Which is truly a shocking bright pink. Love it! I have a feeling this will be my spring and summer color!

10. I know what you're thinking. Just go to walmart and buy the 2 dollar nail polish remover! NO, I say! No! This is Zoya's Remove +. It's a Remover, Nail Cleaner, and Nail prep. It will also take your polish off effortlessly. For $9 dollars you get the Remover with a pump which in my opinion is beautiful and reusable. When i run out of the Zoya remover, I can replace it with a cheaper grosser brand but I don't see myself backing away from this. You don't know what you're missing until you try something better and THIS is better.

11. MY NUMBER ONE MOST FAVORITE PRODUCT THAT WILL EVER EXIST AND NEVER BE REPLACED. Is BYE BYE PORES BY IT COSMETICS! Buff this fine micropowder over your pores and instantly watch the pores on your face blur and almost just go away! You are left with beautiful and seamless skin. LOVE this product yall! It's also a yellow tint that will brighten your skin and undereyes.

12. So recently I've been having some dry skin issues. It could be because I'm wearing more powders, but really I just think my skin is dry. This is First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It's thick and minty smelling and has completely turned my skin around. Love this stuff! For a 6oz. Jar it was $28 at Sephora.

AND NOW... FOR MY LOATHES....

(dun dun dunnnnnnnnnn)

1. Stupid Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner $20 at Sephora or Ulta. It's a beautiful Black. It's very very dark and at first I thought this would be a perfect alternative to my Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Zero. BUT it wasn't. It stung my eyes when I used it on my waterline (which was what I wanted it for). Buy it if you wanna Gauge your eyes out and die. Ok... little over dramatic but whatevvvs. P.s. Sister tell me out to spell Gauge... (gowdge). However you spell it, that should be the new name for this eyeliner.

2. Lancome's Genefique from what I hear is supposed to be amazing! I don't know if it will only work on Aged skin but I have seen no results and no difference in my skin. Hate to say it because I was using this product to improve my skins texture. I bought this in a set from Sephora with the Genifique Eye for $100.
3. Needless to say, this didn't work either and I handed it over to my mom. It made my eyes sensitive and raw feeling. I DON'T enjoy that. (lol)
4. This is BY FAR the worst product I've ever used. We all know I went blonder but we never expected me to go blonder with a side of a god aweful rash on my face and neck. I should have done more research on John Frieda's Go Blonder Spray before I bought it. BUT I'm obsessed with my hair being WHITE Blonde and went against my better judgement. This product claims to not have harsh chemicals or bleach in it BUT it does. It faded my pink pillow case and gave me the infamous rash, which after I started seeing it on my face I researched it and a LOT of people had similar effects. Do not buy this! It is aweful! The only thing that helped my rash to go away was my FAB Ultra Repair Cream. It was the dumbest $9 I've spent this year.

Tarina Tarantino Brush Set Review

OK.... I did it again. I splurged. BUT it was well worth it in my opinion!!!! Hear me out! I use my Mac brushes and LOVE them. #224 is beyond my favorite brush, I have two in fact. I bought this Tarina Tarantino brush set BECAUSE of the Mac 224 look alike. I know... excessive BUT I needed it! Plus it is PINK and a gorgeous BRIGHT pink at that! SO I will review each brush with the number and name that goes with it.

- #12 Powder Brush - This is a very nice brush. It is great to add a powder such Mac's MSFN to give a LIGHT dusting over your foundation. It's not very dense but I really do like it. The denser and tighter the bristles, the more product you will use. Nothing too special, just a regular old powder brush.

- #43 Pigment Eyeshadow Brush - I really enjoyed this brush. If you are expecting this to look like a Mac 139 you will be surprised at how UNLIKE it is! It's a lot bigger and less packed but as the name suggests, It is a brilliant pigment brush for packing color on the lid. This brush was another reason I bought this set because my Mac 139 (rest it's little brush soul) bit the dust, or should I say "bit the pigment." tehehe. Needless to say it died and I needed a replacement. Love this brush!

- #74 Smudge Brush - This is also an AMAZING addition to my collection. It is, in my opinion of course, the perfect pencil brush. It tapers to an amazing point and allows more precision while smudging. I also use this brush for in depth crease work. LOVE LOVE LOVE this little guy! Great, if not, BETTER dupe to the Mac 219.

- #65 Liner Brush - I've actually never used a flat liner brush. This is an amazing liner brush and I believe everyone should have it in their collection. I created a perfect thin line with a perfect little wing to go on my perfect little eyes... Too much? Probably so;)

- #56 Crease Brush - The main event, the reason of my even purchasing this set was this brush. I will not prolong your excitement because MINE is just about to explode! Of course I LOVE it!!!!! It's thinner than a Mac 224 and is basically nothing like it at all! It's more along the lines of a Mac 226, which was discontinued and I do not own it. This is the brush I've been looking for my whole life. It helps me to create the most perfect cut crease! I LOVE IT! It's super easy to work with and super soft. Doesn't scratch my eyes or irritate them. It also tapers more to a point and I cannot say enough how pleased I am with the quality of it.

Here it is Next to a Mac 224 (which is still my holy grail brush) The two are a perfect pair! So you can definatly see the difference.
Another product I want to rave about are Brush Guards. They help to prolong the life span of your brushes while also keeping it's shape in tact. These are great to wash your brushes with and really is an amazing product. I will be keeping almost all of my brushes with a brush guard from now on. They are cheap and can be found at coastalscents.com. Below is a picture of my Mac brushes with the brush guards. As you can see they range in shapes and sizes. They fit any brush.

Face of the day! March 2, 2011

Please disreguard my retarded hand. It seems to make its way into some of my pics and it's completely uncontrollable.... apparently.
Cut crease using my new brushes. LOVE! The brushes are kind of expensive at $70 at Sephora, but if you are looking to upgrade and improve I strongly suggest these! Plus they come in a cute little jewelery box with a mirror and it's just beyond adorable!
So if you are wondering, YES Sister. BUY THESE BRUSHES.
